Mayors' Ride Bios - DeWayne Quinn
1. Which Relay link do you want to ride?
Sacramento to Napa
2. How you found us
Faye Saunders contacted me and asked if I would participate.
3. Why you want to do this ride
I think it is important to enhance awareness and promote the
value of cycling. Not only as a means of excercise and an
alternative means of transportation, but also as a means to
develop quality and lasting relationships -- such as what
happens during group rides.
4. Your touring experience
I am not necessarily a touring rider. I rode 1600 miles last
year, but hope to double that this year.
5. Tell us about your bike
I ride a Felt F45R. Felt o!ered a (complete) superior
component set, but I did not have to pay inflated prices. I
would (and hope to) buy another some day.
6. Describe your training regimen
I only average about 30 miles on the road during the week, but
go for long rides on Saturdays and quick (time trial) routes on
Sundays. I ride two spin classes a week at 140 bpm's
heart rate monitor) for 45 minutes to an hour.
7. How are you making time for this
By staying up late.
8. What are your fears about doing this ride
Dealing with traffic through the mountain stages and getting
everyone through safely.
9. Do you have any special skills
I like to drink wine and we riding into wine country. Our
special skill would be our love for a fine Cabernet.
10. Are you involved in other non-profit organizations?
Sierra Adoptions Services. I am trying to raise money to help
get a child adopted.

 | As a result of such efforts, the National Bicycle Greenway network will establish the bicycle as a desirable part of the transportation mix. As more of the Greenways is built and maintained, for a fraction of the cost of building even just a few miles of interstate freeway, the many advantages of bicycle transportation will soon become evident. |
