National Mayors' Ride 2006
Starting from Boston, relay teams of National Bicycle Greenway (NBG) cyclists will move across America, collecting support from the leaders of 30 other large population centers on their way to San Francisco. As these bicycle adventurers pass through supporting NBG Day cities, they receive proclamations in ceremonies ranging from fifteen minute certificate presentations to media extravaganzas that have included police escorts, newspaper, TV and radio interviews and hordes of photographers. Some have also seen displays and public speaking that celebrate advancements in the local two wheel way of life. All this energy converges on San Francisco, CA on July 30, 2006.
Our past photo galleries, blogs, rider bios and each city's NBG Day proclamation, etc, can all be accessed from the 2006 schedule!!

 | Restaurants, lodging and other support services will spring up along the Greenway, creating new jobs, and the structures that support these services will be designed to enhance the natural character of the Greenway. On some parts of the Greenway network, young people can find summer work transporting elderly and disabled people on bike taxis. Here, a bike shuttle service will also be available for transporting items that are inconvenient to be carried on a bicycle. |
